With 3,000+ outdated EGL (Enterprise Generation Language) programs which were becoming more costly and risky to maintain, this major municipality faced a significant IT challenge. The aging infrastructure, costly license fees, and decreasing ability to maintain the code created a challenging scenario. With no clear future to support and maintain these applications, the city needed to migrate the applications to a more flexible and cost-efficient modern platform.
The City invited ExperSolve to deliver the solution. ExperSolve performed an Assessment of the programs and created a plan for the aging applications. The EGL programs were migrated using the ExperThink™ toolset to an ASP.NET and C# platform. The COBOL programs were also migrated to a .NET platform and the migration and conversion was set to occur over a twelve-month period.
