Success Stories: Blue Chip Case Study: System Center Used to Meet Client's Audit Requirements

Blue Chip Consulting Group had a client with a complex technical situation that spanned from ineffective ways of managing patch deployment, to audit event reporting on environment servers. The current environment lacked functionality and did not allow for the integration and automation to meet the client’s needs. The client needed to maximize their existing Microsoft technologies. To achieve the client's goals Blue Chip proposed integrating components of System Center Configuration Manager (SSCM), System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), and Opalis into their technical environment.


Blue Chip designed and implemented a System Center infrastructure to support both the development and production environments. After the functionality in each environment was validated, Desired Configuration Manager (DCM) baselines were used to report on system compliance based on line of business applications. Windows Software Update Services (WSUS) was integrated with SCCM to provide a detailed level of patch deployment. The Audit Collection Services (ACS) component of SCOM was used to report on specific audit events and Opalis workflows tied all these components together to provide an integrated approach to meeting all of these requirements. This also provided a foundation for the client to meet future initiatives. With this solution the client will be able to monitor server health, apply the latest software and updates, pull reports needed, monitor servers, track software changes, and remedy issues that are reported in.
