The Enterprise Platform Modernization team takes a proven step-by-step approach designed to help you evaluate Windows technologies from a UNIX, midrange and mainframe perspective. The specific services include:

• Modernization Strategy Briefing:  A 1-2 hour on-site discussion that explores the benefits, address potential issues and answer specific question you have about Platform Modernization or Application and Database Migration.
• Architectural Design Session:  A 2 day on-site discussion that provides a detail architectural overview of the Microsoft Application Platform plus explores the scope and objective of the systems, applications, databases or workloads you want to either improve the effectiveness, efficiency or reduce the total cost of ownership for your business.  This session will also provide a discussion of PMA member technology that can benefit your modernization or migration effort.
• Proof of Concept (POC) or Pilot Project:  Working with and supporting PMA members, Microsoft can help facilitate a Proof of Concept (POC) or Pilot Project to demonstrate the technology that supports Platform Modernization and Application and Database Migration.  For example, this could include, but is not limited to, a sample COBOL/CICS/JCL application migration to Windows Server 2008R2 or DB2, Oracle or Sybase database migration to SQL Server demonstrating the deployment potential and project benefits. 
• Project Support:  Again working with and supporting PMA members, Microsoft can help facilitate Modernization and Migration projects, including project planning, budget development, architectural design and validation.
